Mara Pacyga MS, PT, Polestar Certified Pilates Practitioner

Mara is bringing her dream to reality with the inception of Elevate Pilates and Physical Therapy, LLC, in Winter Park, Colorado. She established her foundation by graduating with Honors from Indiana University Bloomington in 1996, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Biology, and a minor in Spanish. She converged her academic strengths in neuroscience and psychology with her passion for fitness and dance, completing a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado in 2001. After discovering the holistic benefits to both fitness and rehabilitation, Mara continued her education with a Comprehensive Rehabilitation Certification in Pilates from Polestar Pilates in 2007.
Mara is a Clinical Instructor for the University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program, and a part-time Physical Therapist at Middle Park Medical Center where she specializes in outpatient Physical Therapy. Mara takes great pride in her volunteer work as a Physical Therapist and Pilates Instructor for the National Sports Center for the Disabled Competition Center, teaching injury prevention and postural alignment through neuromuscular education with Pilates. She is committed to community involvement, and can be found at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center providing physical therapy and teaching fitness classes, Pilates mat and wellness workshops.
Mara has worked in a variety of settings as a Physical Therapist, including inpatient acute and transitional care, inpatient rehabilitation, and in both outpatient hospital-based and private practice clinics. The diversity of her clinical experiences provides her with a unique ability to care for patients of all ages with a full spectrum of needs. She can tailor therapies for athletic, neurological, medical and orthopedic injuries, or help you achieve your personal wellness goals by increasing strength and flexibility.
In the future, Mara plans to promote the fusion of Pilates into the world of rehabilitation by engaging in research related to Physical Therapy and exercise physiology. With this effort, she hopes to provide a more evidenced-based explanation for the “magic” of Pilates. Mara is aiming to advance her education with a PhD and plans to continue to develop her role as a Pilates Educator.
